TerraPower’s Molten Chloride Fast Reactor (MCFR) project reached a major milestone with more than 1000 hours of isothermal loop pumped operations at the company’s lab in Bellevue, Washington. The fully-pumped molten salt loop is being used to test key components of the MCFR including the pump, heaters, freeze valves, flanges, and instrumentation, over time at a single temperature.
