David Lucoff manages TerraPower’s reactor licensing efforts. Lucoff has more than 30 years of technical and management experience in the nuclear industry. Previously, as the Site Area Director of the Test Reactor Area at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL), he was responsible for all activities carried out at the Advanced Test Reactor and supporting facilities.
Before joining INL, Lucoff held technical and management positions at the Fast Flux Test Facility. Prior to that, he worked at the Westinghouse-Nuclear Fuel Division and has extensive experience with pressurized water reactor core design and power control strategies. Lucoff also served as an Assistant Professor of Nuclear Engineering at the University of New Mexico, where he conducted research on the transient performance of nuclear fuel.
Lucoff received his undergraduate training and Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and an M.B.A. from the University of Washington. In 1997, he received The Reactor Technology Award from the American Nuclear Society; the award recognized his accomplishments "in introducing and leading the development of fast and thermal reactor safety and control technologies."
