Jimmy Wang is TerraPower’s chief representative in China, with the primary responsibility of managing the company’s relationship with the Chinese government and local companies. He has more than 40 years of experience in the power industry in a variety of technical and management positions.

From 2008 to 2012, Wang served as the deputy general manager for the China Nuclear Power Engineering Company, the main engineering subsidiary of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Company, helping design and build more than 18 new nuclear units, including CPR1000, AP1000 and EPR plants. Wang was part of the executive management team overseeing all the company’s operations and responsible for its international business development effort.

Prior to this assignment, Wang spent 34 years with Bechtel Power Company. From 2003 to 2008, he was the vice president of Bechtel China in charge of power generation. Wang was responsible for the business development efforts promoting the AP1000 Generation III plant in China. He also served as Bechtel Power’s senior business development manager and a vice president for its subsidiary in Taiwan from 1991 to 2002. Wang has also been involved in various roles in nuclear power plant and combined cycle gas turbine power plants, including positions as design engineer, engineering supervisor, project engineer and project manager for projects in the United States and Taiwan.

Wang holds a Bachelor of Science in structural engineering from Cheng Kung University and a Master of Science in structural mechanics from Tennessee Technological University. He is also a registered professional engineer in the states of Maryland, Virginia and Connecticut.
